December 2008

What goes together better than baseball, hotdogs and a warm summer night? Nothing in the world as far as 13 year old Colton is concerned!

In August, Colton, his mom, dad and little brother, Christopher, traveled to New York City to see the New York Yankees play in legendary Yankee Stadium. Not only did Colton see the Yankees play, the Yankees gave Colton his very own spring training bag, two shirts, a pair of shorts, a book on Yankee’s history, and two autographed baseballs – everything a kid would need to be a true Yankee’s fan! The family was also given a tour of Century Park and Yankee Stadium.

As much fun as the family had at the Yankee’s game, that was only the beginning. Colton and his family became fast friends with Rolin, the limo driver. Rolin gave Colton’s family a tour of the city that only a true, life-long New Yorker could give! The family went to see Wall Street, City Hall, China Town, Ground Zero, Brooklyn, Coney Island where they ate hog dogs at Nathan’s, and the Statue of Liberty. For Colton, the highlight of the sight-seeing tour was when Rolin drove the family to a NYC firehouse, got out of the car, knocked on the door and the family met and took photos with firemen – many of whom were at 9/11. For mom, the highlight of the tour was when Rolin snuck the family in the back of Tavern on the Green! Mom took photos and all were impressed with the shrubbery shaped like gorillas, monkeys and other animals.

Colton and his family also visited every sport themed store and restaurant in New York including the Nike store, the NBA store, and ESPN Zone. It was truly a magic moment for Colton and his entire family.
