Drake’s Snow-filled Adventure
It was less than two years ago that Drake, a 12-year old from Valley Head, underwent a life-changing kidney transplant. At the time of his birth, his parents were informed that he had VATER Syndrome, which causes a number of complications including kidney failure and congenital scoliosis. It has been a long and arduous road filled with numerous surgeries and countless hospital visits, but Drake has not let these obstacles stop him one bit.
When Drake was given the chance to choose his magic moment, he decided on a snowboarding trip to Breckenridge, Colorado. The family had never been to the Rocky Mountains, much less seen so much snow, so you can imagine how excited he was! Once they arrived at the Beaver Run Resort, Drake’s family hit the slopes for lessons. Drake and his brother, Chase, learned how to snowboard while his parents were trained how to ski. By the end of the trip, Drake had mastered the sport!
Now in the 6th grade, Drake is doing well and hopes to return to those beautiful mountains for more snowboarding.
