Magic Moment of the Month - August 2007
Jaye Catches the Big One!
Jaye, like most 13 year-old boys, loves to fish. However, Jaye isn’t like most kids his age. At birth, the doctors found that he had 4 holes in his heart and that the two main arteries were reversed. By the time he was three weeks old, he had endured three surgeries. Then, at age 12 he was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma and has recently gone through several different types of treatments. Despite all of these hurdles, Jaye has still managed to find time to go fishing – his favorite hobby.
So when asked what his magic moment would be, Jaye decided on a deep sea fishing trip. On a warm day in June, his family boarded a huge boat and set on a fantastic fishing excursion in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Jaye caught a ton of king fish but was still waiting on the “big one”. It couldn’t have happened any sooner – the next day, he caught an 80 lb. amberjack! This was definitely Jaye’s magic moment.
Jaye is now home and anticipating the arrival of his newly mounted amberjack which he plans to hang on the wall to admire for years to come.
