Magic Moment of the Month - February 2006
Wow – a night on the high seas! This must have been what was going through Abraham’s mind as he and his family boarded the Disney cruise ship headed for Nassau. Abraham is a very active 6-year-old boy from Birmingham, and although he uses a wheelchair because of Spina Bifida, Abraham knows no boundaries in life. He was ready to take in all the cruise had to offer – days in the sun, the non-stop activities, and the endless food!

Abraham was so thrilled to be going on a cruise with his all of his favorite Pirates! After all, how many young men get to take on Captain Hook? Although he loved meeting all his favorite Disney characters, the highlight of Abraham’s trip was when one of the senior crew members arranged a private meet-and-greet with Captain Hook and Mr. Smee. After the special meeting, Abraham, his brother Samuel and his mom and dad attended the action-filled Pirate Party featuring the swashbucklers, flying high-wire pirates, bad guys, good guys, and, of course, Captain Mickey who came to save the day. And when Abraham thought that day couldn’t get any better, it was capped off by a fabulous display of fireworks exploding in the sky.
Abraham enjoyed the rest of the cruise as he explored new things in a new environment. Abraham’s dad said the trip was magical and that Abraham and the whole family had a fabulous time!
