Always the Trooper
Since the age of 2, Breanna has had a series of illnesses a mile long, the most serious one being panhypopituitarism, a rare condition which has caused her to develop a wide variety of complications including severe hormone deficiencies, extreme fatigue, liver disease and early stage diabetes. Despite frequent hospital visits, extensive testing and a multitude of medications, Breanna is still able to maintain an optimistic attitude towards life.
Breanna loves country music so it was no surprise when she asked to meet her favorite singer Toby Keith. This past summer, she got her wish. Breanna, along with her parents headed out to the Verizon Wireless Music Center in Pelham, Alabama. Once there, they made their way to the back stage area to meet Toby. Knowing that he was a former football player, Breanna gave him a football with a special note written on it. Toby reciprocated the gift with a huge hug which left her beaming with excitement. After spending a few moments with him, she and her parents joined the rest of the crowd for the concert. According to her mother, Breanna’s eyes lit up with joy when Toby first walked out on stage and she went crazy when he sang her favorite song, “Angry American”. It was the happiest she had seen her daughter in a very long time.
Breanna is now in the 8th grade and she has recently been able to go back to school part time. She continues to be a huge inspiration to those around her.
