DOUBLE THE WISHES – DOUBLE THE FUN
Albertville, Alabama has two very special citizens named Brittney and Devin. These fun-loving sisters are 12- and 11-years old, respectively, and they share their toys, fun, love and laughter with each other. They also share a very rare genetic condition known as Hurler Syndrome.
When Brittney was diagnosed, the doctors told her parents that Hurler Syndrome was rarely found in the United States; however, approximately one year later, Devin was born with the same condition. Medical experts told their mom they would need very special care all their lives. However, in 2004, Brittney and Devin had the chance to really show their independence and prove how special they really are by caring for their mom when she was diagnosed with breast cancer.
When the sisters learned they would each get a magic moment, they were so excited. Both girls chose Disney World as their wish, and they decided that Brittney’s trip will come first. Why? Because she’s the big sister! So, around the first of July, the whole family – mom, dad and the girls – will go to Orlando for a week’s stay at Give Kids The World Village. Besides enjoying the activities at the Village, they will go to Disney World, Sea World and Universal Studios and explore the whole Central Florida theme park scene!
Even though Devin could have chosen another type of wish, her mom says that Disney World is all she talks about. She is so excited about her sister’s wish that she can’t stop talking about it to all her friends! Just imagine how excited she’ll be when the time comes for her trip. Brittney and Devin are two beautiful little girls, and we know they will create lasting memories with both their magic moments at Disney World.
