Magic Moment of the Month - June 2008
A Princess Meets A Princess!

Emily is a typical seven year-old little girl from Moundville who loves anything to do with being a princess. When complications from a brain tumor prevented Emily from traveling to the Disney’s Magic Kingdom, Magic Moments brought the magic to Emily! The excitement began to build as Cinderella entered Children’s Hospital and made her way to Emily’s room. Cinderella entered the room pulling two wagons full of gifts and surprises. After special hugs and welcomes, Cinderella and Emily opened the gifts together. Cinderella explained why each gift had been chosen just for Emily. Every princess must have special jewelry so first; Cinderella adorned Emily with magical bracelets, necklaces and of course, a tiara and magic wand. Then, Cinderella spread a beautiful princess blanket over Emily to keep her warm and snuggly and gave her a princess lamp for her bedroom. Next, a selection of books was presented to Emily and her sister, Katelyn, to read together. Finally, Cinderella surprised the entire family with a princess TV/DVD player for Emily to have in her room at home.

The room was full of smiles as Cinderella sang her favorite songs including “Bippity, Boppeity Boo” and “Jesus Loves Me.” Cinderella’s best friend, Snow White, even joined in the fun. Some might know her better as Dr. Alyssa Reddy, Emily’s doctor. Finally Cinderella shared an unbelievable princess castle cake with Emily’s family, nurses, doctors and other staff members. Emily enjoyed two pieces of cake! When it was finally time for Cinderella to return to the Magic Kingdom, Cinderella hugged Emily and her family goodbye and said she would always remember this very special visit.

Emily returned home the following day and her mom said they are all still enjoying their gifts and the memory of Cinderella’s visit. Katelyn is reading to Emily and they are both enjoying the TV/DVD in the bedroom they share. Just recently, Emily and Katelyn received special awards from their school. Emily received the “Most Courageous Kid” award and Katelyn received the “Alabama Direct Writing Award.” Cinderella would be very proud of both these special girls.
