Magic Moment of the Month - May 2008
Too Many Games? Not for Trey!

Trey was born with Severe Combined Immunodificiency (SCID), more commonly known as “bubble boy” disease. The defining feature of SCID is a defect in the specialized white blood cells that defund us from infection by viruses, bacteria and fungi. Without a functional immune system, SCID patients are susceptible to recurrent infections such as pneumonia, meningitis and chicken pox. However, SCID does not define Trey.

Trey is nine years old and has a bright and bubbly personality and definitely has a mind of his own. Trey’s Magic Moment was a shopping spree at the Wal Mart in Luverne where he was greeted by two personal Wal Mart shoppers, a bouquet of Scooby Doo balloons and big “We Love You Trey” cake.

Facing so many options was no problem; Trey knew just what he needed. Trey picked out a TV with DVD player, a Play Station Player, camera, a basketball and games, games and more games. Despite the suggestions of Trey’s mom, Gevada, his grandmother, Carolyn, and his Magic Makers, Sheree Kanter and Valerie Sylvester, Trey wanted nothing practical like clothes or shoes – only the fun stuff!

Mom said everyone had a wonderful time and Trey is enjoying all his items. Trey is even looking forward to his monthly doctor visits now that he has some fun games to help him pass the time!
