Kendall’s Magical Adventure

After rounds of treatments, medication and frequent hospital visits, it was time for Kendall, a 6-year-old from south Alabama, to take a break. So when Magic Moments asked him what his wish would be, he excitedly chose a trip to Disney World to see Mickey Mouse. Kendall had such a great time riding roller coasters with his two brothers, Lewis and T.J., and meeting all of the famous Disney characters like Tigger from Winnie the Pooh. He also enjoyed the spectacular fireworks shows and going on an African Safari at the Animal Kingdom. His favorite park of all was the Magic Kingdom. There he enjoyed the tea cups, eating frozen lemonade and getting autographs from his favorite characters. According to Kendall’s mom, Kendall felt like a star!

Thomas Goes Shopping

Thomas, a 10-year-old who loves video games was so excited when he heard the news that he was getting to go on a shopping spree. So just before he began his 5th grade school year, Thomas and his volunteer wish chairman, Robin Smith, met at Wal-Mart for a day of shopping. Being a huge video game fanatic, he couldn’t wait to pick out new games and electronics to complete his “gaming” bedroom. Upon arrival, he was greeted by the entire Wal-Mart staff and presented with a basket full of goodies. While he was treated like a king, Thomas’s favorite moment was finding room for the enormous 40” television in his mother’s car.

Thomas is now adjusting back to school and starting to make new friends. He has recently finished treatments for Burkitt’s lymphoma and is doing well. He is now able to play outside with friends and is enjoying his new room.

Skate Boarding Photographer
Kevin, a 17-year-old from Hoover, was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Two things that this young man loves to do are skate boarding and photography. When asked by Magic Moments about a wish, he came up with something that would help him with both of his passions – a Sony Video Camera.  So Magic Moments, along with his volunteer wish chairman, John Harpole, found just what Kevin wanted.  Kevin is now attending college and said that all his friends love his camera and are always asking to use it.  Kevin is making movies of his skate boarding and plans to send the movies to some of the skate board shops to help him get a sponsor for his skate boarding career.

A Royal Princess
“Princess Claire” is a precious little 8-year-old who lives in Gulfport, Mississippi, but is treated at Children’s Hospital in Birmingham for Burkett’s Lymphoma.  For some time, she has wanted to visit Walt Disney World – home of all princesses.  When the time came for Claire’s magic moment, she had no idea when she got to Orlando that Give Kids the World Village would become her favorite place.  She said the village was the “best ever” and she would love to live there.  Claire’s mom said she would get dressed in her Belle costume from Beauty and the Beast just to go to the ice cream parlor or for lunch at the Gingerbread House.  She also loved the horses and wanted to ride every day while at Give Kids the World.  Claire must have been looking for her Prince on a white horse because she really was the little princess of the Village. Her mom said she was treated like royalty by everyone, and Claire now believes that she is famous!

Cody’s Adventure at Sea

Cody, an 11-year-old with cystic fibrosis, had a wonderful time on his magic moment. His wish was to go on a Disney Cruise and that is just what he did. In July, Cody along with his mom, dad and sister left their home town of Maylene, Alabama and headed off for Orlando, Florida to board the “Disney Wonder.”
The fun began when the ship set sail. Cody’s mom tells us that his favorite day was when they docked at Castaway Cay. Cody’s family said that the whole island was “totally cool and beautiful,” and they felt as if they were on their own tropical paradise. Cody really enjoyed learning about the stingrays, but the best part of all was that he was able to swim with them!
Some of Cody’s most memorable moments were getting to meet the characters aboard the ship and seeing the many shows. In a letter from Cody’s mom, she states that “our trip was absolutely wonderful.  Everything was booked and was hassle free when we got to where we were going.  From the stay at the Hyatt to the cruise ship, everyone was so nice and waited on us like we were royalty. The crew was so kind and friendly.  You definitely made this a vacation to remember for our family!”

Now You’re Shopping!
Jayde, a 17-year-old who loves to shop was so excited when the day came for her magic moment shopping spree to the Riverchase Galleria. The Galleria advertises to be one of America's most unique shopping experiences, and we know that our special shopper would definitely agree with that! Jayde, who has Still’s disease and Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) said that on the top of her list was to get some new shoes since she was in a wheelchair for a while and couldn't wear many of the high heels she just loves.
Jayde came away from the shopping spree with not just one pair but 4 pairs of great shoes! But shoes were not all that filled Jayde’s shopping bags.
Jayde, along with her mom and 2 wish chairmen Libby Greene and Ashley Wood, had the best time going from store to store. Libby, Ashley and Jayde's mom all waited outside of each store’s dressing room while Jayde modeled the new fall fashions.  Jayde’s wish chairmen said that she had so much fun trying on the clothes and getting her picture made, and they could tell that she was no stranger to the Galleria. She visited some of her favorite stores like Forever 21, Parisian and New York Company just to name a few. The girls shopped that night until the Galleria closed.

Welcome Aboard!
Taylor, a 5-year-old from Valley Grande was able to take her family on a Disney Cruise as her magic moment.  Taylor has a pulmonary condition that requires her to be on constant oxygen, but she did not let that stop her from traveling to Orlando, Florida and boarding the “Disney Wonder.” Taylor’s Mom said that from the time they boarded the ship, everyone was so sweet and nice and made Taylor feel very special. Taylor had a blast enjoying the nightly shows, the pirate party and all the fireworks. She especially liked the ice cream parlor “Scoops” aboard the ship. Taylor’s mom said she liked seeing all the characters that were on the ship but wasn’t sure about getting close enough for a picture! In an email from Taylor’s mom, she commented that “everything went completely perfect for Taylor’s magic moment!”
